Project Overview Sound Decision was referred to the L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills through a consultant to undertake a two-phase renovation of the property’s commercial audio systems. The first phase focused on a complete overhaul of the first-floor audio infrastructure, while the second phase involved a full redesign of the rooftop audio experience. The lower-level system encompassed two dining areas, a lounge, a bar, and the check-in area. Project Overview James Jordan Middle School, an award-winning charter school in the San Fernando Valley, engaged Sound Decision to design a highly flexible multipurpose room for its campus. The building itself was unique—a detached structure composed of modular sections fabricated in Oakland, California, then transported and assembled onsite within a portion of the school’s parking lot. Project Overview We were referred to the Owner’s Representative for Descanso Gardens to consult on the adaptive re-use of a space being transformed into the restaurant, the Farmhouse. The main dining area featured an open-plan layout with high ceilings and exposed crossbeams. While pendant speakers were initially considered, we instead designed a U-shaped speaker layout with speakers concealed atop the architectural coves, directing sound evenly throughout the room. Project Overview Located in Beverly Hills, this residence—formerly owned by Elvis Presley—featured a custom-designed hidden AV system within the master suite. The space was equipped with a 7.2.2-channel immersive audio system paired with a recessed Stewart Filmscreen screen and a Future Automation projector lift, allowing the video display system to discreetly raise and lower when in use. Flush-mounted in-ceiling speakers from Triad were selected for their built-in angled design, which directed sound precisely throughout the room while maintaining a clean architectural appearance. Project Overview Robbins Brothers Pasadena partnered with us to design a distributed audio system for their historic downtown Pasadena retail location. One of the primary challenges was the long distance between the equipment rack and the audio zones, along with the inability to mount speakers to the building’s walls or ceilings due to historic preservation constraints. Project Overview Descanso LA utilized an 8-zone multiroom audio system built around a Symetrix DSP processor, paired with Blaze Audio and LEA Professional Connect amplifiers. For the speaker system, Sound Decision featured a combination of Sonance Commercial pendant speaker arrays, pendant subwoofers, surface-mount speakers, and in-ceiling commercial speakers, all selected from the Sonance Commercial collection. Users can control source selection and volume independently by zone using wall-mounted controllers or from their mobile devices. My wife and I stumbled into Sound decision AV’s showroom not having any idea what we wanted or what was state of the art in audio, video and automation controls. Scott patiently led us through Request audio and video drives and automated controls for all our music, video and lighting, both indoor and out. Four years later, through three phases of remodeling our home, with the expertise of Scott and his team, our home and pool area, is entirely automated with the most elegantly simple Crestron touch pad control. Now on a beautiful night, I can sit outside, have a glass of wine, and listen to Miles, Davis, Billie Holliday and John Coltrane on the Request Server, all the speakers in synch and sounding great, and CONTROLLING IT ALL ON MY iPAD!
